Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday night?

It looks like mostly cloudy skies are expected, except for partly clear skies (enough for the moon and brightest stars to be visible) over some regions after sunset until cloudiness increases with the increasing moisture moving eastward over the Great Lakes region during Wednesday.

Monday 26 January 2015

Will skies be clear Monday night over southern Ontario?

It looks like most regions will be covered by mostly cloudy skies, caused by moisture spreading northward from a low pressure region over the eastern US. The cloudiness is forecast to cover most regions north of Lakes Erie and Ontario. Some regions of southwestern Ontario may remain mostly clear.

Sunday 25 January 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Sunday evening?

It looks like increasing mid-level moisture will cause increasing mid-level cloudiness during the evening, but enough breaks in the cloudiness may allow bright stars, the moon and Jupiter to be easily visible and to give the impression of a mostly clear sky, particularly in regions near western Lake Ontario and GTA (as seen in the forecast chart below for mid-level moisture).

Friday 23 January 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Friday evening?

It looks like both high-level and low-level cloudiness will be increasing by about midnight, and so skies may be partly or mostly clear for several hours after sunset over most regions of southern Ontario.

Thursday 22 January 2015

Will skies be clear Thursday evening over southern Ontario?
It looks like mostly cloudy skies are likely during the evening, followed by clearing skies later in the evening, due to lots of low-level moisture and cloudiness that is likely to develop Thursday afternoon and persist during the evening over most regions of southern Ontario.

Tuesday 20 January 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Tuesday evening?

Skies are likely to become mostly clear except for some mid-level cloudiness near Lake Ontario and Lake Erie during the early evening as mid-level cloudiness, associated with a weak weather disturbance over the southern Great Lakes region during Tuesday, diminishes and moves southeastward from southern Ontario during the afternoon and early evening. Otherwise, mostly clear skies are likely.

Will skies be clear Monday night over southern Ontario?

Friday 16 January 2015

Will skies be clear Friday night over southern Ontario?

It looks like skies will be mostly clear over southern Ontario before midnight, and then increasing cloudiness is forecast to move eastward across southern Ontario ahead of a warm front. A noticeable exception to the evening clear skies may be some low-level cloudiness over the regions south of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay due to lake-effect cloud development.

Wednesday 14 January 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday evening?

It looks like skies may be mostly clear for several hours after sunset over regions near Toronto, but increasing cloudiness may cause mostly cloudy skies after sunset over western regions of southern Ontario. Tuesday 13 January 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Tuesday night?

It looks like very clear skies are likely, with a strong high pressure ridge overhead. Some locations near western Lake Ontario might be prone to low-level stratus clouds drifting toward the west, under northeasterly winds (at noon Tuesday) becoming southwesterly Tuesday evening. The stratus clouds are visible on visible satellite imagery (such as the example below) and may move northward over the regions around the western end of Lake Ontario (generally the GTHA regions) as low-level winds become southeasterly during Tuesday evening.

Friday 2 January 2015

Will skies be clear Friday night over southern Ontario?

It looks like a high pressure ridge over Ontario will cause subsidence and mostly clear skies  Friday evening, except for jetstream-level moisture that may appear as high cloud over southern Ontario, due to the presence of a very strong jetstream over southern Ontario Friday evening. After midnight, increasing moisture will be moving northeastward over southern Ontario and gradually thickening cloud cover is likely to cause overcast skies by sunrise.
