Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Thursday night?

It looks like skies will be mostly clear, except for some low-level clouds that develop during the afternoon over some regions and that may persist for several hours during the evening. Which regions? The chart below shows low-level moisture mostly near western Lake Ontario and the GTHA during the hour before sunset.

Monday 25 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Monday night?

It looks like skies will be mostly cloudy during the evening and then become partly or mostly clear sometime between midnight and dawn, as upper level moisture moves eastward (illustrated below for 2 am EDT) and leaves some low-level clouds and high humidity (and possibly fog formation in locations where winds become light or calm).

Friday 22 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Friday night?

It looks like skies will be very clear, due to cool and dry arctic air flowing southward over southern Ontario east of a strong high pressure ridge (illustrated below, chart courtesy of weather.rap.ucar.edu) which will be contributing to subsidence and causing afternoon cloudiness to dissipate before sunset.

Thursday 21 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Thursday night?

It looks like skies will be partly cloudy during the evening and then become clear by morning, as a result of some mid-level moisture (illustrated below) along a cold front moving southward over southern Ontario overnight.

Wednesday 20 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday night?

It looks like skies will be mostly cloudy by mid-evening and then cloudy overnight, as moisture moves eastward across southern Ontario overnight (illustrated below) ahead of a mid-level disturbance (which is west of the Great Lakes region during Wednesday afternoon).

Tuesday 19 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Tuesday night?

Clear skies are forecast, mainly due to a cool and dry northwesterly flow over southern Ontario during Tuesday and continuing overnight. Low-level cloudiness during the afternoon ought to dissipate before or shortly after sunset, leaving clear skies.

Monday 18 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Monday night?
Lots of mid-level moisture is moving northeastward over southern Ontario (illustrated below) ahead of a cold front and will cause lots of cloudiness, but enough breaks in the cloud may allow Jupiter and the brighter stars to be visible and give the appearance of a partly clear sky over many regions occasionally during the night.

Saturday 16 May 2015

Will skies be clear Saturday night over southern Ontario?
It looks like skies may become mostly clear later Saturday afternoon and then cloudiness will be increasing overnight. The evening may be mostly or partly clear, except for low-level moisture (illustrated below) that may cause mostly cloudy skies for some locations (especially in southwestern regions) at times during the evening. Sometime after midnight, increasing moisture and cloudiness is forecast to spread eastward across southern Ontario.

Thursday 14 May 2015

Will skies be clear Thursday evening over southern Ontario?

Mostly cloudy skies seem likely. Lots of high cloudiness moving eastward over southern Ontario later Thursday ahead of a warm front will most likely be visible during the evening over all of southern Ontario, while increasing mid-level moisture (illustrated below) will be visible as more widespread cloudiness over southwestern regions during the evening and over regions further east later in the evening and overnight.

Wednesday 13 May 2015

Will skies be clear Wednesday evening over southern Ontario?

Clear skies are easy to forecast for Wednesday night as a strong high pressure ridge builds over the Great Lakes region (illustrated below on a forecast chart for UTC 03:00 or EDT 23:00). A few low-level clouds may appear in some locations during the early evening, especially over southernmost regions, until the low-level moisture and cloudiness that is over southern Ontario during Wednesday afternoon moves south of the province overnight.

Saturday 9 May 2015

Will skies be clear Saturday night over southern Ontario?

Skies will be mostly cloudy, with lots of high and mid-level moisture in the atmosphere, but there ought to be lots of clear spots where skies may appear to be clear for several hours except for high cloud that will be present, and so it is not practical to try to forecast if, when and where in southern Ontario there will be clear skies.

Friday 8 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Friday night?

It looks like lots of high-level moisture will be over southern Ontario overnight (illustrated below) and so skies will be partly clear with scattered mid and high-level clouds resulting in occasionally cloudy skies and occasionally mostly clear skies except that high cirrus clouds will most likely be present even when skies appear to be clear.

Thursday 7 May 2015

Will skies be clear Thursday night over southern Ontario?

Mostly clear skies are expected, except for high-level cirrus clouds that will appear in the skies over most regions. The chart below shows the predicted location at 11 pm but the cirrus high cloudiness would probably be visible most of the time overnight over most locations to some extent.

Wednesday 6 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday night?

It looks like skies will be clear except for some scattered mid-level clouds over southwestern regions, remaining from the cloud deck along the frontal zone that is over southwestern Ontario during Wednesday. While the frontal zone is weakening and the cloud deck is drying, the remnant low and mid-level moisture may appear as scattered clouds during the evening, and then may form fog by early morning.

Tuesday 5 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Tuesday evening?

Skies will most likely be cloudy over most regions, except for regions near and north of the Toronto area, due to moisture (illustrated below) along a frontal zone over the southern Great Lakes region which is forecast to be over most of southern Ontario approximately south and west of Toronto.

It looks like skies will become mostly clear by sunset following passage of Monday's cold front, except for southwestern regions where mid-level moisture will remain (illustrated below) and cause mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday 3 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Sunday evening?
It's another day and upcoming evening of scattered mid and high-level cloudiness so that the only forecast that could be made is a night of scattered cloudiness, with some periods having a mostly obscured sky, other periods having enough high-level cloudiness to cause lunar haloes, and some periods may be clear enough to appear like a clear sky especially with the bright moonlight.

Friday 1 May 2015

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Friday evening?

Skies will be mostly clear by the end of evening twilight. Some mid-level clouds may appear near Lake Ontario and GTHA at and shortly after sunset, caused by some mid-level moisture moving southward from the Lake Ontario region during the afternoon, but a high pressure ridge moving across southern Ontario (illustrated below) is expected to provide dry air and subsidence, resulting in mostly clear skies overnight.
