Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Friday night?
Skies might be partly or mostly clear during the early evening, but increasing cloudiness later in the evening is expected. Even if skies remain partly clear during the evening, starlight will be diminished noticeably by a thick plume of smoke from western wildfires which is over southern Ontario during Friday.

Cloudy skies are expected during the evening, and then clearing skies are expected around or after midnight following a cold front. Mid-level moisture over southern Ontario during the evening is forecast to move south of the province after midnight (illustrated below for early Friday) and some low clouds (due to low-level moisture) are likely to remain visible during early morning.

Partly or mostly clear skies are likely to develop around sunset over many regions of southern Ontario, except for some clouds due to lots of moisture remaining overnight at low, middle and jetstream levels. Heavy dew and fog are also likely to develop due to the high humidity.

Mostly cloudy skies are likely during early and mid-evening, followed by mostly clear skies after late evening. Early evening cloudiness is expected to be caused by a region of mid-level moisture moving southward over southern Ontario (illustrated below for the hour before sunset) which is forecast to move south of southern Ontario by late evening as well as some high clouds that may be visible, caused by a region of jetstream-level moisture over southern Ontario during the evening (illustrated below for late evening).

Mostly clear skies are likely over most regions, except for mostly cloudy skies over southwestern regions due to mid-level moisture which is forecast to be over southwestern Ontario overnight (illustrated below for late evening) and except for some low clouds during the evening and some high clouds over most other regions until about midnight.

Mostly or partly cloudy skies are expected during the evening over most regions, due to lots of low and mid-level moisture remaining over and moving southward from southern Ontario during the evening following this afternoon’s cold front, and then mostly clear skies are likely after midnight. Fog and low cloud may develop over many regions after skies become clear and before morning in locations where winds diminish.
