Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Sunday night?
Cloudy skies are expected, except for clearing skies developing after midnight near and east of the Peterborough area, due to mid-level moisture moving eastward (illustrated below for 1 am EST in the 500 hPa moisture chart) and general diminishing of low-level cloud near the Peterborough region, well north of Lake Ontario, and south of the downwind edge of southern Georgian Bay (illustrated below for 1 am EST in the 925 hPa moisture chart). At the same time, high cloud is likely to be increasing, due to jetstream-level moisture moving northeastward across southern Ontario (illustrated below for 1 am EST in the 300 hPa moisture chart) (and the jetstream-level moisture doesn’t give a hoot about topographical effects like big warm lakes).
