Will skies be clear Sunday night over southern Ontario?

It looks like skies will become mostly clear by sunset over most of southern Ontario, with low clouds dissipating soon after sunset, as a weak high pressure ridge builds over the central Great Lakes region following a low pressure trough moving eastward from eastern Ontario.
Dewpoint temperatures remain high, and so later in the evening, as temperature drops, dew and mist are likely to form, primarily in lower-lying areas where winds become calm, but any optical surfaces exposed to the clear night sky will become dew-covered early in the evening in most regions.

Thursday 28 August 2014

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Thursday night?

Clear skies are expected, except for jetstream-level moisture associated with the jetstream overhead, that may appear as high-level cirrus clouds from time to time.

Wednesday 27 August 2014

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday night?

It looks like some mid-level cloudiness will be over southern parts of southern Ontario at sunset and gradually move southward, leaving generally clear skies by the end of twilight.

Tuesday 26 August 2014

Will skies be clear Tuesday night over southern Ontario?

It looks like cloudy skies are likely during the evening, followed by clearing skies after approximately midnight. The forecast chart below shows lots of mid-level moisture over southern Ontario during the evening that will exist as visible cloudiness over most regions.

Monday 25 August 2014

It looks like skies will be mostly clear during the evening and then cloudy before morning, due to cloudiness moving southeastward over southern Ontario early Tuesday morning.

Sunday 24 August 2014

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Sunday night?

It looks like skies will become partly or mostly clear, except for lots of jetstream-level high cloudiness. The widespread low-level cloudiness is likely to dissipate near or before sunset and leave mostly clear skies with some scattered low clouds, while the high-level cloudiness may be visible over most regions during the evening and then move eastward from southern Ontario after midnight (followed by clear skies).

Thursday 21 August 2014

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Thursday night?
It looks like some clearing skies are likely over some parts of southern Ontario by sunset, due to mid-level moisture moving eastward from southern Ontario during the afternoon, but a high-level jetstream directly over southern Ontario will most likely cause some high-level cloud to be visible.  Fog is likely to develop, especially in regions where skies become clear, and high dewpoint and humidity at ground level will cause any unprotected optical surfaces exposed to the sky, to become dew-covered.

(Note, no forecasts updated during Friday and Saturday due to Starfest.)

Tuesday 19 August 2014

Will skies be clear Tuesday night over southern Ontario?

It looks like mostly, or completely cloudy skies are likely, except for partly clear skies during the first 1 or 2 hours following sunset, near and north of the Toronto region (and partly cloudy conditions east of southern Ontario overnight). High clouds in the skies near Toronto near the end of twilight may allow enough starlight to penetrate and give the impression of partly clear skies, until skies become more overcast later in the evening.

Monday 18 August 2014

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Monday evening?

It looks like mostly clear skies are likely, except for high-level (jetstream level) cirrus that may appear mainly north and east of the Toronto area during the evening, and increasing mid-level cloudiness over southwestern Ontario mainly after midnight.

Sunday 17 August 2014

Will skies be clear Sunday night over southern Ontario?
It looks like mostly clear skies are likely, except for some low-level cloud that may persist during the evening over some locations, due to low-level moisture in the atmosphere. The main locations where low-level cloud may persist are near western Lake Ontario, Niagara peninsula and eastern Lake Erie.

Friday 15 August 2014

It looks like clear skies are likely until approximately midnight, and then high cloud will be increasing ahead of a cold front over northern Ontario that is forecast to move southward over southern Ontario during Saturday afternoon-evening.

This will probably appear as gradually thickening waves of thicker high cloud cover alternating with periods of clear sky, but for the Friday evening period before moonrise, skies ought to be quite clear.

Thursday 14 August 2014

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Thursday evening?

It looks like mostly cloudy skies are expected, due to copious moisture at mid-levels of the atmosphere circulating around a large upper-level trough over eastern Ontario and western Quebec, with cyclonic circulation and embedded regions of uplift to contribute to upward vertical motion and cloud formation. The clearest skies will most likely be over southwestern regions.

Wednesday 13 August 2014

Will skies be clear Wednesday night over southern Ontario?

Skies ought to be partly to mostly clear overnight, with a high pressure ridge west of the Great Lakes causing clearing skies, while an upper level trough over eastern Ontario causes some cloudiness. Cold air aloft, along with some regions of mid-level moisture and patches of uplift, circulating around the upper trough will cause some areas of cloudiness especially in regions near and north of the Toronto area.

Saturday 2 August 2014

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Saturday night?

It looks like some cloudiness from thunderstorms may persist during the first several hours after sunset, and then clearing skies are likely. Skies that become cloudless may appear quite hazy if a large plume of forest fire smoke  that's over southern Ontario and the Great Lakes region during Saturday remains over southern Ontario overnight.

(Note, no updated forecasts until August 9.)

Friday 1 August 2014

Will skies be clear Friday evening over southern Ontario?

It looks like skies will be partly cloudy, due to thunderstorm debris clouds which will most likely dissipate by the end of twilight, and due to mid-level moisture that will appear as mid-level cloudiness over some locations while periods of mostly clear skies may be over other locations.
