Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Thursday night?
Partly clear skies are expected with lots of cloudiness caused by moisture at low, middle and high levels in the atmosphere (forecast chart for mid-level moisture illustrated below for late evening) except that skies could remain mostly cloudy during the evening in regions where strong thunderstorms develop during the afternoon.

Lots of high cloud will cause skies to be partly or mostly cloudy, but skies may appear to be mostly clear during early evening over eastern regions of southern Ontario before the high cloud becomes distinctly visible. Partly or mostly clear skies are expected, except for a region of cloudiness along a weak weather front which is forecast to move southeastward over southern Ontario during the evening (illustrated below for late evening). Following the passage of the front and clouds, partly or mostly clearing skies are likely except that fog is likely to form over regions where rain fell and left moisture on the ground and in low levels of the atmosphere.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected, due to increasing high cloud during the evening and then thicker cloud by midnight, except for locations near, north and east of the GTA where skies are likely to be partly clear during early evening before more substantial cloud moves northeastward over all of southern Ontario. Skies are likely to be partly cloudy, due to high thin cloud, caused by jetstream-level moisture which is forecast to gradually spread northward across southern Ontario (illustrated below for late evening), but there will likely occasionally be some mostly clear periods with breaks in the cloud that allow the brighter stars to be easily visible and give the impression of clear sky.
