Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Sunday night?
It looks like skies are likely to be mostly clear by or shortly after sunset, except for some jetstream-level cloud that could appear as cirrus during the evening, and lots of low-level moisture which is likely to move southeastward from southern Ontario by sunset but some of the moisture could cause some low-level clouds during the evening especially near Lake Ontario.

Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Sunday night?
It looks like there will be a lot of low clouds caused by lots of low-level moisture below a subsidence inversion. Some regions may become partly clear, but more widespread low cloudiness is likely to remain near and north of the Toronto area.
Later in the evening or by early morning, the low cloudiness may diminish and leave partly clear skies over more regions than during the evening.

Will skies be clear Saturday night over southern Ontario?
Mostly (or completely) cloudy skies are likely, due to a region of mid-level moisture moving across southern Ontario overnight, although breaks in the cloud may allow stars to be visible and to give the appearance of a partly clear sky from time to time.

Will
skies be clear Friday night over southern Ontario?
It looks
like skies will probably become clear over most regions of southern Ontario,
except for near the GTA and regions between western Lake Ontario and Georgian
Bay, where a region of mid-level moisture is expected to spread northward
during the night. By early Saturday morning, the mid-level cloudiness may have
moved out of skies over the GTA and be over regions near Lake Huron.
Other regions may be mostly clear, but widespread low-level overcast cloudiness
may persist over some regions due to moisture remaining below a widespread subsidence
inversion.
Sunday, 7 December 2014
Will skies be clear Sunday evening over southern Ontario?
Increasing high-level cloudiness over southern Ontario during the afternoon and evening ought to cause mostly cloudy skies during the evening, except that skies may appear to be clear in some areas with breaks in the high cloud and with the very bright near-full moon shining and giving an impression of a clear sky.

Thursday, 4 December 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Thursday night?
It looks like mostly cloudy skies are expected ahead of an
upper-level disturbance moving northeastward over SW Ontario overnight, except
for some locations where skies may be partly clear during the early evening
long enough for the bright, nearly full moon to be visible and give the
impression of a partly clear night.
Wednesday, 3 December 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday night?
Skies are likely to be mostly clear by sunset, due to a strong high pressure ridge building eastward over the Great Lakes region, except for lots of low-level cloudiness south and east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay especially during the evening.

Monday, 1 December 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario
Monday night?
It looks like cloudiness ought to
diminish during the evening and then skies ought to become mostly clear overnight. The main exception is southwestern Ontario,
where some mid to high-level cloudiness is forecast to gradually spread northeastward
over southwestern Ontario during the night.
Thursday, 27 November 2014
Tuesday, 25 November 2014
It looks like partly clearing skies are likely over some or
most regions of southern Ontario overnight as mid-level moisture moves
northeastward from southern Ontario (as in the chart below) but many regions
will experience some lake-effect cloudiness due to low-level moisture flowing
eastward from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
Friday, 21 November 2014
Will skies
be clear Friday night over southern Ontario?
It looks
like skies will remain mostly clear during the evening, without interference
from pesky lake-effect cloudiness, but increasing mid to high-level moisture
ahead of an approaching warm front is likely to appear over southern Ontario before
early morning.

Wednesday, 29 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday evening?
It looks like skies will remain mostly cloudy, due to
low-level cloudiness. Although mid-level cloud will be diminishing, lots of
low-level moisture will most likely result in lots of low-level cloudiness with
occasional clear breaks over some regions.
Tuesday, 28 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern
Ontario Tuesday night?
It looks like skies
will become mostly clear, following passage of a cold front across southern
Ontario Tuesday afternoon, except for patches of low-level moisture that will
appear as scattered low clouds. The low clouds will cover more of the skies in
northern regions of southern Ontario (near and east of Lake Huron), and less in
southern regions near Lakes Erie and Ontario.Monday, 27 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Monday night?
It looks like skies will be partly cloudy after sunset and
then cloudy later in the evening as increasing mid-high level moisture flows
over southern Ontario (as shown on the chart below for moisture at the 700 hPa
level) but increasing jetstream-level cirrus moving over southern Ontario
during Monday afternoon will contribute to the cloudiness.
Saturday, 25 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Saturday night?
It looks like skies will be mostly clear by late afternoon, after a weak upper-level front moves eastward during the afternoon, except for some low-level clouds that may develop during the evening over most regions. Later, after midnight, some mid-level cloudiness may develop over regions approximately east of the Kitchener area (according to the latest forecast chart, shown below).

Thursday, 23 October 2014
Will skies be clear Thursday night over southern Ontario?
It looks like skies are likely to be clear during the
evening (as well as before sunset during the solar eclipse) and then increasing
high-level cloudiness is likely to appear after midnight in southwestern
regions and by dawn over eastern regions of southern Ontario, caused by jetstream-level
moisture moving eastward over the central Great Lakes region ahead of a low
pressure trough west of the Great L:akes during Thursday.

Saturday, 18 October 2014
Will skies be clear Saturday night over southern Ontario?
It looks like mostly cloudy skies are likely, due to extensive low-level moisture resulting in low-level cloudiness, except for gradually clearing skies over southwestern regions after midnight. Over and south of Georgian Bay, the atmosphere will have sufficient moisture to remain cloudy all night, and regions of southern Ontario south and east of Georgian Bay will most likely remain mostly cloudy all night.

Friday, 17 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Friday night?
It looks like mostly cloudy skies are likely, caused by lots of moisture and uplift associated with an upper level trough over Ontario, except that some partly clearing skies may develop following the passage of an upper cold front overnight. The result is that most locations will be under cloudy skies except for some clearing skies for several hours over some locations.

Will skies be clear Sunday evening over southern Ontario?
It looks like skies will be mostly clear during the evening, except for jetstream-level moisture which is forecast to move northeastward across southern Ontario ahead of a warm front after sunset and may be visible as high clouds. Later in the evening, mid-level moisture and cloudiness is forecast to move over southern Ontario and may not cause noticeable widespread cloudiness until after midnight over eastern regions of southern Ontario (such as east of the Toronto area).

Friday, 10 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Friday night?
Mostly clear skies are likely, caused by subsidence under a
high pressure ridge spreading eastward over the Great Lakes region, but several
sources of moisture may cause some cloudiness to be visible in the bright
moonlight.
Low-level moisture near western Lake Ontario during the
early evening (shown on the forecast chart below) may cause some low-level
clouds over some locations. Another potential source of clouds is a frontal
zone south of Ontario, and high-level cirrus clouds that are visible over
southern Ontario during Friday afternoon may cause visible high cloudiness
overnight, especially over southwestern regions.
Thursday, 9 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Thursday night?
It looks like skies will be gradually clearing during the
evening as extensive afternoon cloudiness dissipates, but conditions are
suitable for cool upper-level air flowing across the relatively warm water
surfaces of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay to create low-level cloudiness and
transport it eastward across southern Ontario. So, some periods of cloudiness
can be expected throughout the night in regions east of Lake Huron while mostly
clear skies are likely in southwestern regions south of Lake Huron.
Wednesday, 8 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday night?
Skies are likely to become mostly clear by sunset over most
regions, as a high pressure ridge builds eastward over the western and southern
Great Lakes regions, while an upper level low over northern Ontario maintains
some moisture and cloudiness north of southern Ontario.
Light (not calm) winds ought to prevent fog formation over regions with moist ground,
and there should be no problem seeing the Hunter’s Moon.
Tuesday, 7 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Tuesday night?
More specifically, during the total lunar eclipse near morning twilight?
It looks like skies may be clearing over southern Ontario
after midnight, following passage of a cold front. Southern Ontario may be
ideally located in the zone of subsidence for several hours that follows the
cold front and will most likely be causing clouds to dissipate and leave at
least partly clear skies by the time of the eclipse. The clearing appears to be
more favourable west of Toronto and less favourable east of Toronto, but all
regions may see occasional clear periods at some time before Wednesday morning.
Monday, 6 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Monday night?
It looks like skies will be mostly cloudy during the evening, due to a region of mid-level moisture and uplift moving over southern Ontario, and then mostly clear between midnight and dawn after the region of moisture moves northeastward from southern Ontario.

Saturday, 4 October 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Saturday might?
Partly cloudy skies are likely, with lots of moisture in the atmosphere, but regions of subsidence will be causing periods of clearing skies over many regions overnight. So, most regions should expect partly or mostly clear skies with some cloudy periods.

Saturday, 27 September 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Saturday night?
It looks like skies will be mostly clear except for high cloud at jetstream level which is forecast to move northeastward over southern Ontario during the evening. So, the moisture may be visible as cirrus or cirrostratus cloud earlier in southwestern Ontario and later in the evening toward the Toronto region.

Thursday, 25 September 2014
Will skies be clear Thursday night over southern Ontario?
Continuing clear skies are continuing as a result of a high
pressure region over southern Ontario.
The only detail that may be worthwhile to point out is the
presence of some jetstream-level moisture forecast to be over southern Ontario
Thursday evening, that may appear as some cirrus clouds in the sky over regions
mainly west of Toronto.

Monday, 22 September 2014
Friday, 19 September 2014
Thursday, 18 September 2014
Clear skies are expected Thursday night over southern
Ontario as a result of a high pressure region over the province. Northeasterly
winds flowing around the high are transporting dry and clear air over southern
Ontario. Some low-level cloud is likely to develop and move over GTA regions
near western Lake Ontario before sunrise.
Wednesday, 17 September 2014
Will skies be clear over southern Ontario Wednesday night?
Skies are likely to be mostly clear during the evening,
until a weak cold front moves southward over southern Ontario overnight and
provides uplifting motion that will act on some mid-level moisture to form
clouds, and probably cause a mostly cloudy sky before early morning.
Tuesday, 16 September 2014
Sunday, 14 September 2014
Will skies be clear Sunday evening over southern Ontario?
It looks like mostly clear skies are likely, beginning near sunset. Lots of low-level moisture, and vertical lift caused by an upper-level trough over Ontario, are causing low clouds during Sunday afternoon but the clouds are likely to stop forming during late afternoon and dissipate around sunset over most regions. Some periods of clouds will continue to develop overnight, due to the abundance of the low-level moisture, but most regions of southern Ontario are likely to see clearing skies before, near, or after sunset.

Saturday, 13 September 2014
Will skies be clear Saturday night over southern Ontario?
Lots of low-level moisture will be causing low clouds. Periodic clear spots may give the impression of mostly clear skies occasionally, but most regions ought to expect partly cloudy skies. More cloudiness is likely southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
